Why I Started Traveling & My Travel Blog

Growing up, my family and I never traveled. We have a large family, and I always had the impression that you had to be rich to travel ANYWHERE.
When I first moved to the mountains of North Carolina, I found a passion for hiking and would regularly plan different day trips to hike in many areas. THEN I MOVED TO TEXAS…
I knew instantly that Texas would be very different from living in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, but I was interested to see something different. Not knowing anyone or ANYTHING ABOUT TEXAS, I decided to start exploring Texas with the state parks. On weekends I would plan day trips to smaller and lesser-known towns, then started going on tours to see the many caves in Texas.
Before I knew it, the obsession to explore Texas as much as possible began.
What surprised me the most was that I would speak to locals or others would have lived in Texas most of their lives but had never heard of some of the places I described traveling to.
So, after giving out suggestions and recommendations, I decided to write about it.
I wanted more people to learn about the many fun things to see and do that’s only a short drive away and won’t cost you PTO or 2 paychecks to afford.
Here, I’ll share my personal recommendations for where to go and what to do. Everything from hidden gems to where to spend the holidays. Travel doesn’t have to be stressful or time-consuming. Start by simply exploring closer to home.
