Winning awards at the Houston International Wine Competition, their most celebrated wines include the Proprietary Red, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. When visiting this Texas winery, be sure to try some the following delicious wines.

The Proprietary Cheral Red Wine is fantastic and also won an award at the Houston Rodeo. Those who try their Cabernet Sauvignon often associate the nose with a blackberry crumble with a palate of strawberry, coffee bean and vanilla. If you’re interest in trying a wine made from the varietals on the property, their Estate Tanat is another delicious red wine with intense flavors.

The Sauvignon Blanc at Arrowhead Creek Vineyards has a nose of lime zest and tangerine with a palate described as a lemon meringue pie. The Tempranillo Rosé was my personal favorite with its varietals grown in the Texas High Plains.

Morale Patch Wine Co.

At Arrowhead Creek Vineyard, they not only offer their delightful selection of ACV wines but additionally sells bottles from their second wine company called Morale Patch Wine Co. Motivated to support Veterans, Morale Patch Wine Co uses the proceeds from sales to support those who have serve in the U.S military.

Not only does the bottle for each of the wines come with an actual patch, but it also comes with a story of a Veteran and strong mission to give back and pay tribute.

What Makes This Texas Winery Special

Between their beautiful tasting room, an ongoing excavation, their large support for Veterans and their mission to be inclusive to all, it is easy to understand why Arrowhead Creek Vineyards is a special place to try wine in Texas.

Tasting Room

When arriving to the property, a visit to the Tasting Room is a great place to start. The Tasting Room has been newly refinished with a warm and rustic style that compliments their overall theme of arrowheads being found all over the property. I love the classic leather couches located next to the large windows overlooking the vineyard.

Start off your visit with a wine tasting with some of their delicious and award-winning wines. Also consider complimenting your visit with ordering a lovely charcuterie board.

Special Appreciation for Veterans

Arrowhead Creek Vineyards holds a special place for veterans, honoring their service and sacrifice. The winery has created a dedicated space for veterans to relax and enjoy their time at the vineyard.

The Flight Room is styled with memorabilia that celebrates the contributions of the military, and many references to the Airforce and airplanes. The winery offers a welcoming and supportive environment where Veterans and others can connect with fellow service members and their families.

The Flight Room has a bar, plenty of comfortable seating and live music on select days.

The vineyard embraces this history by hosting a special event twice a month called their Exploration Event. Limited number of visitors can participate in a hand dig to uncover these ancient artifacts. Additionally with your participation of the dig, pizza and a glass of wine is also included. Wine club members receive a discount when they sign up for the event.

The combination of discovery with the enjoyment of wine, absolutely makes a visit to this Texas winery one of the most unique and memorable experiences, especially in the area.

Family and Pet Friendly

Unlike many other wineries in the Hill Country that restrict access to children and pets, Arrowhead Creek Vineyard prides itself on being a welcoming destination for all. Families can bring their children to enjoy the open spaces and beautiful surroundings, while pet owners can relax knowing their furry friends are welcome.

The vineyard provides outdoor seating, shaded areas and yard games ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for every member of the family. Consider bringing a blanket for a picnic in their open field.

Options for non-Wine Lovers

For those who may not be as enthusiastic about wine, Arrowhead Creek Vineyard offers an excellent alternative. The on-site Icehouse serves a selection of beers, providing a refreshing option for non-wine drinkers.

The Icehouse also features large-screen TVs, where visitors can watch their favorite sports games while enjoying a cold beer. This inclusivity ensures that everyone can have a great time, regardless of their beverage preference.

Rent Place for Special Events

When looking for an ideal venue for hosting special events, this Texas winery has several beautiful spaces available for rent. The pavilion offers a covered area with stunning vineyard views, perfect for weddings, parties, and corporate events. The riverside area provides a serene and picturesque setting for intimate gatherings and ceremonies.

The Icehouse, and Flight Room are also beautiful spaces to rent out for a special occasion. The Tasting Room would be my pick for hosting an event. There is a large bar, leather couches and a stone fireplace. The Tasting Room is also just steps away from the rows of vineyards, perfect for taking pictures.

History of the Land

The land was once owned by the Beckman family in the early 1900’s. It’s here that they raised cattle and other livestock, and also farmed pecan trees. The Beckman family owned the land for decades, and a small cemetery of their family’s ancestors can still be found on the property.

It’s clear that before the Beckman family settled in the area, Native American tribes inhabited here. The Pedernales River joins with the Three Mile Creek and is the perfect spot for fishing and finding other wildlife such as deer, rabbits and turkeys. Hundreds of arrowheads have been found on the property, with more hidden away waiting to be uncovered.

When the Aspra family bought the property from the Becker’s, they completely transformed the land and the original buildings. They planted 2 acres of Tannat and Mourvèdre varietals that do well with handling extreme heat.

Current Owners

Now, Arrowhead Creek Vineyard is owned by the White family, who newly purchased the land in 2022 with a new vision. The original buildings that are almost 100 years old have been remodeled to reflect a modern, stylish rustic charm.

The new owners have also brought an expert winemaker to join their team: Jean Hoefliger. With over 30 years of experience working in the Napa Valley, Hoefliger brings his expertise to create delicious and unforgettable wines to the Hill Country.

One of the things that I really admire about Arrowhead Creek Vineyard is that the owners are extremely hands on. You’ll see them on property talking and assisting guests, and also maintaining the property. They truly embody the Southern hospitality spirit.

My Personal Experience

Arrowhead Creek Vineyards is more than just a Texas winery; it’s a destination that offers a unique blend of history, natural beauty, hospitality and exceptional wine. A big thank you to owner Josh for giving me a tour of the beautiful property. If you get the chance, have a chat with one of the co-owners Mark. He always has the best stories and is full of passion for life and the winery.
