Start with the section filled with small and very large pumpkins carved by professional artists. The event also features a walking trail lined with thousands of real and artificial hand carved pumpkins. As you follow the walking path, you’ll go through several different themes that create an immersive and unique experience.

In addition to the spectacle of pumpkins, live fire dancing performances add a thrilling element to the evening. Altogether, Pumpkin Nights makes for one of the top things to do for Halloween in Austin.

Professional Pumpkin Carving

The professional pumpkin carving area is one of the main highlights of Pumpkin Nights. Skilled artists demonstrate their carving talents, creating intricate and detailed designs that go beyond the typical jack-o’-lantern.

Visitors can watch these artists at work, gaining insight into the techniques used to create these pumpkin masterpieces. The display of these carved pumpkins makes it a memorable experience for all who visit.

Walking Trail

The self-guided walking trail at Pumpkin Nights is a mesmerizing winding path that stretches in the woods for half a mile. Visitors can take their time as they journey through several different themed sections including under the sea, pirates, a web of spiders and more. The event begins at dusk, so when you begin the trail, you’ll be guided and surrounded by lit up pumpkins and the various displays.

My favorite section was without a doubt the Harry Potter section. As you walk through the dark path, you’re soon surrounded by a thick fog. With only the lights from the hovering soft glowing carved pumpkins to guide you, music from the Harry Potter score plays as you make your way towards a red glowing light towards the edge of the forest. You truly feel like you’ve been transported to another place.

There are over 7,500 hand carved artificial pumpkins. The most magical part of this event are the scenes created to make mystical and sometimes spooky landscapes. I would not describe the trail as scary and there were many children there who were excited and captivated by the many themes. The walking trail really makes this event one of the most enchanting things to do in Austin for couples and families alike.

Fire Dancing Performers

The fire dancing performers at Pumpkin Nights provide an exhilarating show that captivates audiences of all ages. These skilled performers combine acrobatics and dance with the dangerous beauty of fire. As they use music to create a story while manipulating the fire, the performance is both thrilling and mesmerizing.

Set up next to the illuminated pumpkin display, the fire dancing adds an extra layer of excitement and is a must-see part of the event. Scheduled times of this performance will be posted near the blocked off area where the show is hosted.

Remember to use the QR code next to their stage to leave the performers a tip.
