A Local’s Biggest Recommendation
As a local, I would recommend everything on the list above when looking for things to do in Austin inside. My favorite movie theater to visit is absolutely Alamo Drafthouse. To save money, I always go to matinee movie, and I only order 1 drink.
Natural Bridge Caverns is the largest show caves in Texas. If you love to explore caves, I will absolutely recommend taking a tour. Their tour groups can get crowded so pick a time that’s in the morning and avoid holiday weekends.
When entertaining kids, my 5-year-old nephew and my 11-year-old niece love to run around a Ninja Nation. We have also had birthday parties there for their friends to enjoy.
I love strange and unusual things so I would recommend stopping by the Museum of Weird and also the Museum of Illusions.
The Austin Library is one of the most peaceful places that I like to go to read. You will have to pay for parking, but if you go on a Sunday the first hour is free in their garage.
I have a passion for photography, and I love seeing people carry on the traditional processes. Getting a tintype portrait of yourself is very unique and can be novelty that is irreplaceable.
I am a dog mom, so I love the idea of puppy yoga. I’m not very good at yoga, but if it gets too challenging you can just hang out with the dogs.
Watching a hockey game at the Texas Stars is by far my favorite sports team to watch near Austin. There’s such high energy in the crowd and every time I go to a game, I lose my voice from having so much fun.
