What to Know Before Your Visit
Jellyfish are most commonly seen along the Texas coast from late spring to early fall. To avoid them, it’s best to swim in designated areas with lifeguards who can provide warnings and advice. If you do encounter jellyfish, it’s important to leave the water immediately and seek first aid if stung.
Unfortunately for the coast of Texas, at times, small pieces of oil called tar balls can be found on the beach. There will typically be signs before entering the beach if the area has a frequent amount in the area.
Although driving on the sand is allowed on several beaches in Texas, it’s best to not take chances. Even when you have 4-wheel drive, be sure to double checked the beach rules.
